LUBBOCK, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville track & field team finished up their first indoor meet of the season at Texas Tech.

The Javelina women were led by a trio of pole vaulters who all finished in the top six. Samantha Alvarez (Victoria/Memorial HS), Amy Rabalais (Sandia/George West HS) and Taylor McCumber (George West/George West HS) all cleared 10-6 with Alvarez taking fourth, Rabalais, fifth and McCumber, sixth.

In the running events, Amber Perry (Goliad/Goliad HS) and Santia Deck (Alpharetta, GA/Milton HS) were the top performers. Perry just missed qualifying for nationals in the 400 meters with a time of 58.10. Deck matched her best sprint from a year ago running a 7.45 in the 55-meter dash.

The team is back in action on February 4 at the Texas Tech Open.
