Javelinas Sweep Huston-Tillotson

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team swept past Huston-Tillotson on the road on Tuesday night 25-10, 25-15, 25-18 behind one of the past attacking performances in school history.

The Javelinas (6-6, 3-6) posted a .500 attack percentage in the first set and finished the match with 44 kills, 11 attack errors and a .412 attack percentage.  It was the team’s highest attack percentage since a three-set win over Howard Payne on September 11, 2004 when they posted a .523 attack percentage.

The Javelinas were led by the trio of Lakeshia Craft (Pflugerville/Connally HS), Stephanie Johns (Lubbock/Coronado HS) and Kelsey Washington (Cuero/Cuero HS).  Craft had 10 kills and a .500 attack, Johns added 11 kills and a .348 attack and Washington finished with 11 kills and a .625 attack.  Freshman Sarah Fountain (Las Cruces, NM/Las Cruces HS) made her first appearance of the season and dished out 14 assists in her only set of action.  Bethany Friesenhahn (Poth/Poth HS) added five kills, four aces and a .571 attack percentage.

The Javelinas are back in action on Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake at 7 p.m.  The Saints enter the contest with a 2-15 season record.
