
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Senior Rhonida Carter (Houston/Nimitz HS) and junior Katie Dugie (Yorktown/Yorktown HS) led the Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s track & field team at the Incarnate Word Last Chance Meet on Thursday night as each won an event.
Carter won the 400-meter hurdles in a personal record time of 1:02.50. It was a personal record by more than 1.50 seconds and also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division II National Championships. She finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in a provisional qualifying time of 14.51.
Dugie capped off her season by winning the javelin with a season best toss of 122-11. She came back in the shot put with a fourth place finish at 42-6.75, her second best throw of the season.
Freshman Samantha Alvarez (Victoria/Memorial HS) nabbed a pair of second place finishes in the high jump and javelin. She cleared 5-5.25 in the high jump, her second best performance of the season, and threw a personal record 116-4 in the javelin.
Another freshman, Amy Rabalais (Sandia/George West HS), had her best performance of the season in the pole vault. She cleared 11.2-25 to take third place in the event.
