AUSTIN, TEXAS – Erica Alvarado was the only Texas A&M-Kingsville athlete competing during the first day of the annual Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Wednesday.

Alvarado, a senior distance runner, competed in the 5,000 meters at the prestigious track meet. She clocked in at 18:42.66 for the race placing 16th overall, but second among NCAA Division II athletes.

The Javelina track and field team will have more athletes competing in the next two days at the three-day event.
