
ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the UT-Arlington Bobby Layne Invitational on Saturday.
The Javelina women had a number of individuals post season best performances. In the field events, both Amy Rabalais (Sandia/George West HS) and Katie Dugie (Yorktown/Yorktown HS) shattered their previous season bests. Rabalais cleared 10-6 in the pole vault while Dugie heaved the shot put 43-0.5. Rabalais improved by three feet while Dugie improved over a foot and a half.
On the track, the Javelina women had some solid performances. Diana Zarate (San Luis Potosi, Mexico/San Patricio HS) set season marks in both the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles. She clocked a 16.03 in the 100 hurdles and a 1:06.39 in the 400 hurdles. Jessica Martinez (Zapata/Zapata HS) dropped over 22 seconds off her time in the 5,000 meters to 19:09.01.
The Javelinas will compete at the Texas Relays in Austin next weekend.
