Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville kicks off Lone Star Conference play at Javelina Stadium against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.

The Javelinas (0-2, 0-0 LSC) are looking for win number one of the 2026 season after dropping their first two games of the season to No. 6 Northwest Missouri State and Saginaw Valley State. The Javelinas will welcome in a Greyhound (0-2, 0-0 LSC) team that is also searching for win number one.

Saturday's contest will be somewhat of a homecoming for Eastern New Mexico Head Coach Art Briles as he returns to the state of Texas to coach a college football game for the first time since December of 2015 after spending eight seasons at Baylor University.

Recent matchups have broken the way of the Javelinas, who are enjoying a five-game winning streak against the Greyhounds including a 45-28 victory over Eastern New Mexico last season in Portales, New Mexico.

The Greyhounds offense has been quite the spectacle through two games, Eastern New Mexico currently holds the fifth highest scoring offense in the Lone Star Conference, averaging 28.5 points per game. They also have the third most yards per game at 480.5.

Quick Hitters:

 - The Javelina defense currently leads the Lone Star Conference with seven sacks through two games after registering five sacks against Saginaw Valley

- Linebacker Travis Bielefeld has been a revelation for the Javelinas through two games, the redshirt-junior from Somerset, Texas, racked up a pair of sacks to bring his season total to three. One the season, Bielefeld also has 10 total tackles, 4.5 TFL's and a forced fumble.

- The Javelinas have now made it 15 consecutive games where they have registered at least one sack dating back to the beginning of the 2025 season.

- Kaleb Gainer notched his first career interception in the first quarter for the Javelinas, making it six straight games dating back to last season that the Javelinas forced at least one turnover.

-  Mills Dawson's 355 passing yards last week against Saginaw Valley State are the 15th most by a Javelinas QB in a single game and he becomes just the 11th QB in program history to eclipse 350 passing yards.

- Four different receivers eclipsed over 50 yards receiving last week, including Nate Barnett, King Johnson, Walker Dietze and Christian Kretz
