Kingsville, Texas – After starting 3-1 on the season following the Mulerider Invitational in Magnolia, Arkansas last weekend, The Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville are preparing to play its first home matches of the season. These matches are set to take place in the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education center (SPEC) as the Javelina Volleyball Classic is set for first serve.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville had two members of the All-Tournament Team with Setter Alayna Guerrero and Defensive Specialist Tayae-Renae Garcia. These two had an outstanding showing in Magnolia as they helped propel the Javelinas to wins over Arkansas-Monticello, Lemoyne-Owen and Southern Arkansas.
 
This will be the team's first chance this regular season to play in front of the home crowd as they are set to face off against Edinboro (Thursday, 6:30 p.m.), Minnesota State University Moorhead (Friday, 8:30 a.m.), University of Findlay (Friday, 3:00 p.m.), Montana State University Billings (Saturday, 10:00 a.m.), and St. Mary's University (TX) (Saturday, 2:30 p.m.).
 
Edinboro
The Fighting Scots have started out their season 3-1, putting together three sweeps and the a tough loss to the University of Charleston. They are led bv Missy Soboleski who is entering her 21^st season with theteam and is the program all-time wins leader with 336.
 
Coming off their strong performance in its first tournament of the season the team is currently third in blocks in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with 2.36 block/s. They also come in at sixth in kills having 12.29 kills/s. Makayla Neelands comes in at the top for the team with 50 total kills, as well as second in the team with 48 digs. She is part of a tandem with Reilly Parent who pairs up with 40 total kills and 42 digs, which are second and third on the team, respectively.
 
Minnesota State University Moorhead
The Dragons are heading to Kingsville after a quick stop in Laredo, TX to take on Texas A&M International on September 1^st. They also recently participated in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational and finished with a 2-2 record. They are led by Kari Thompson who is her Fourth season with the team and has 30 wins in her previous three years.
 
The Dragons are led by Senior, outside hitter, Maci Martini who currently ranks in the top five for Kills (1^st), Digs (1^st), Assists (5^th), Blocks (5^th), and Service aces (1^st). While their senior, setter, Madi Colby is right behind her in 2^nd in digs with 36 and leads the team with 85 assists. The teams two losses come against two other LSC teams in Texas Permian Basin and #21 Angelo State University.
 
University of Findlay
The Oilers of Findlay are coming off the start of their season with a 2-2 record where they started out strong winning the first two matches of the year before dropping the next two against Davenport and Ashland. They are led by Wick Colchagoff who is entering his 29^th season with the Oilers and 32^nd overall season as a Head Coach.
 
They are headed up by senior OH/DS Hannah Miller who captured 63 kills and 41 digs in their opening weekend, and she is joined by Zoya Winkelfoos who leads the team with 98 assists and second with six aces on the season so far. The team is averaging 15.57 digs/s and 14.14 kills/s. Findlay is atop the G-MAC with 17.57 points/s.
 
Montana State University Billings
The Yellow Jackets are coming into this Javelina Classic following a 1-3 showing in the U Mary Invitational where their win came against Western New Mexico. Being led by Scott Keister in his 2^nd season with the team, he most recently was with Northwest College (WY) where he had a 87-63 record.
 
MSUB is coming to the court with Sophomore Allie Dorman leading the way in kills with 47, as Junior Avery Starr has been setting the team up with 113 assists coming into the weekend. On the defensive side Avarey Stuff is at the forefront with 28 digs while Laina Whitney has been holding it down with 11 blocks for the Junior.
 
St. Mary's University (TX)
 Coming off a 3-1 start after the Rollins College Invitational the Rattlers look ready to continue their win streak here in Kingsville. They are led by their first year Head Coach Kristine Pelky who joins the team after stepping in as the Winona State interim head coach leading them to a 28-5 record in 2021.
 
Laurene Robinson leads the way with 70 kills on the year as her right-hand woman is Haleigh Wilk who has compiled 134 assists to this point. On the flip side Kaylee Cavazos is in command with both 60 digs and tied atop the list with 7 service aces. Madyson Carr a Freshman, Middle Blocker, is leading the team with 13 total blocks on the young season. Laurene Robinson currently sits in second in the Lone Star Conference with 4.12 kills/s and St. Mary's as a team is third in kills in the conference.
 
The Javelina Volleyball Classic will start this Thursday at 4:00 p.m., with St. Mary's and Minnesota state followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville and Edinboro at 6: 30 p.m. Fans of the Javelinas can tune into the action on FloCollege or follow the action with JavelinaVB on X.
