Magnolia, Arkansas - Javelinas begin season with a sweep over Arkansas-Monticello, Guerrero racks up 34 assists in Javelina Debut
 
This match was one of four this weekend for the Javelinas, with two more coming up tomorrow against Lemoyne-Owen (2:30 p.m.) and host of the weekend Southern Arkansas (6:30 p.m.), and finally wrapping the weekend with the University of Central Oklahoma (10:00 a.m.) on Sunday.  
 
The Javelinas start their season of with a sweep over Arkansas-Monticello, this match saw a number of players shine to start the season. "It was a great win to start the season. I think we did a lo of things well," Head Coach Tanya Allen-Gonzalez added, "I think that we got to see some things we need to work on." The team will gear up and get ready for a match against Lemoyne-Owen University.
 
At the top of the number of great performances in this match two newcomers stood near the top. Freshman Cambelle Brammer led the team with 13 kills, on 21 attempts for a .571 percentage, starting her Javelina career off with a bang. Next, for the newcomers Senior transfer Alayna Guerrero notched 34 assists in her Javelina debut, leading both teams in the category. Head Coach Tanya Allen-Gonzalez said " Alayna had a great performance today. I love that she was able to get so many assists in her first match with the blue and gold."
 
Junior Defensive Specialist, Tayae-Renae Garcia, nearly tied her single-match high in digs with 21 in today's match. The Javelinas looked good in their first match of the year with both veterans and newcomers showing out.
 
Overall, Kingsville won this match in a sweep, but also learned a few things about its identity for the season to come. Leading for much of the match the Javelinas stood strong and never let up showing they are building to be a tough win all-year
 
Kingsville is back in action tomorrow for two matches starting at 2:30 against Lemoyne-Owen and then battling host Southern Arkansas at 6:30.
