Kingsville - The Texas A&M - Kingsville Women's Golf Team finished in thirteenth place in their recent outing at the RJGA Women's Palm Valley Classic. The team shot a total of 612 (+36), finishing right behind the #43 Arkansas - Fort Smith, and ahead of Western Washington.
The Javelinas shot two of their best rounds of the season as they continue to build off their stellar performances in the last few tournaments. Making a push to extend their season by making a run at the NCAA Super Regional, as their rankings have been rising week after week.
Leading the pack for the Hogs was
Mekdes Rozas, going only three-over par. Rozas would end day one two-over par, sitting tied for twenty-first. She would come back on day two and shot a 73, one-over par, to move her up slightly for a 16th-place finish. It would end up being Rozas' highest finish of the season and best two-round tournament of the season.
Finishing with not quite their best tournaments, but still consistent was
Viviana Farias and
Zoe Dean. The pair have been slowly trying to find their footing and found some consistency between the two. On day one, they both shot a 78 (+6), placing tied for 78th at the end of one. On day two, the duo would be at lock step, shooting a 77 (+5), finishing 11-over par in total and tied for 80th.
Mia Scrimgeour would finish not too far behind, sitting at five-over par after day one, tied for 68th. After a slow start to day two, Scrimgeour would shoot a 79 (+7). Scrimgeour finished the tournament in 85th place and 12-over par.
Jamie Miller would round out the performances of the weekend for the Javelinas. After a slight misstep on day one, Miller would perform well on day two, shooting a 78 (+6) and placing tied for 95th at 14-over par.
The Javelinas have their Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament next week, Monday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 15, at Rockwall, Texas.
