Laredo - Led by a third-place finish from junior
Zoe Dean, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team posted a strong performance in the opening competition of its season, placing fourth as a team at the two-day, 36-hole Jack Brown Invitational in Laredo.
The Javelinas posted a 611 total score, and improved as the weekend went on, dropping 15 strokes from Monday to Tuesday. Dean followed suit, shooting a +4 75 on Monday before following it up with an excellent, +1 71 round to close out the tournament on Tuesday, tying her for third overall with a 147 total gross score. Viviana Farias wasn't far behind, as she tied for seventh place individually with a +7 149 on the weekend.Â
Senior
Mia Scrimgeour showed significant improvement on day two, following her opening 83 with a 74 to finish tied for 26th at +15 (157). Junior
Mekdes Rozas posted rounds of 81 and 77 for a +16 finish (158), good for a tie at 29th. Freshman
Jamie Miller finished 42nd overall, showing resilience on day two by bouncing back with a strong 78 after an opening round of 87 for a tournament total of 165 (+23).
Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf will be back in action on February 23-24 at the Rattler Invitational hosted by conference foe St.Mary's at Dominion Country Club. Â
