Kingsville - The Lone Star Conference named Zoe Dean and Viviana Farias to the Preseason Golfers to Watch List.

Dean is a junior golfer from Schertz, TX, who currently has a Regional Rank of 85 heading into the Spring season. In the Fall, she shot her way to two top-10 tournament finishes. At the 2025 RJGA Shootout at Estrella, in day two she finished strong and shot even-par to finish +2 in a 36-hole tournament placing sixth of the 74 who participated in the Tournament. 

Dean is also tied for shooting the lowest score in a 18-hole round in program history with a 5-under par.

"Zoe has a competitive fire about herself which drives her to keep working towards her full potential in everything," said Head Coach Troy Lopez. "She has a solid sense of feel in her game which is hard for every player to have naturally."

"She brings life to our program with her passion about the team and is a foundational person to building this program. It's exciting to watch her grow as a person."

Farias, a South Texas Native, transferred by-way of Southern Arkansas University, but came back home this past summer to join the Javelinas. Farias has settled in nicely in the Blue & Gold, holding a Regional Ranking of 72 entering the spring. Similar to Dean, In the spring she earned two top-10 finishes, placing eighth at the St. Simons Intercollegiate where she finished +4 for the tournament. In that same tournament, in round three, Farias shot a new career low going -2 on the round.

"Viviana has added another piece to this program transferring in this season," said Lopez. "Her outlook in life, school, and golf embody what our program is." 

"She has a very even keeled attitude when on the course which plays into her favor when mistakes are made or when playing well. She has a fighting mentality to keep going no matter what results are to come. I look forward to seeing her progress this spring."

The team travels this week to Spicewood, TX, to compete in the Jack Brown Invitational hosted by Texas A&M International from February 1-3.
