Jafus White named to the Javelina Hall of Fame

Kingsville - Texas A&M - Kingsville Athletic Department announced that former national champion football player Jafus White is set to be inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2025.

White is the fourth of seven inductees to be inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame, with each subsequent inductee being announced each week until August 13th.

A native of Cameron Texas, White was a member of the Javelina football program from 1975-1979. White was a part of two Javelina Football National Championship teams in 1976 and 1979 as well as three Lone Star Conference Championship teams. In his career, White helped guide the Hogs to a 39-8-1 overall record.

Individually, White was as good as any of the litany of Javelina Hall of Fame defensive backs. He is a three time all-conference award winner for the LSC and a two-time all-region selection for the South-Central region. His crowning achievement individually would come in the 1979 season, where White would be named a NAIA First Team All-American as well as a Mizlou Network First Team All-American.

After his time with the Javelinas, Jafus would be selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 253rd pick in the 10th round of the 1980 NFL draft. While he never played a game for the Packers, White did play professionally in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts in the 1981 season as well as in the USFL for the Houston/San Antonio  Gunslingers in the 1984 season.

White currently resides in Victoria, Texas.
