Former Softball Coach Brady Tigert to be named into Hall of Fame

Kingsville - Former Texas A&M-Kingsville softball coach Brady Tigert was named to the Javelina Athletics Hall of Fame the department announced on Wednesday.

Tigert will join seven other inductees for the Javelina Hall of Fame class of 2026, with each inductee being announced on subsequent Wednesdays. The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on Oct. 2 inside the Student Union Building ballroom.

Despite only being the head man of the Javelina softball program for three seasons, Tigert left his mark as one of the greatest coaches in Javelina softball history. Tigert compiled a 110-54 record across his three seasons with the Javelinas, winning 30-or-more games in every season.

His crowning achievement however came during the 2002 season, where Tigert would lead the Javelinas to a 46-18 record, a berth in the NCAA DII South-Central Regional Tournament and the program's first outright conference championship after sweeping through the Lone Star Conference tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, all of which were shutout victories.

The 46 wins the Javelinas and Tigert posted during the 2002 season set a new program record for wins in a single season, a record that would stand for 17 years until the 2019 softball team broke the record. The Javelinas also set a new program record for the most consecutive shutout wins in a single season, blanking six straight opponents from the regular season finale (4/20/2002) into the South-Central Region Tournament (5/10/2002).

Tigert will now join his 2002 Javelina softball team in the Texas A&M-Kingsville athletics Hall of Fame after the team was inducted in 2019.
