Pueblo, CO - Texas A&M-Kingsville women's and men's cross country teams wrapped up the 2025 season by making history at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship in Pueblo, CO, placing 24th and 25th respectively.
After both races were delayed by one hour because of frost in Colorado, the teams finished off their excellent seasons at the Regional. Though the men's team was missing multiple top runners, underclassmen on the young, talented team were given opportunities to race on a large, postseason stage. Those young racers came up huge, breaking the program's record for the best team average time in a 10k.
The men's team finished 24th in the competition with freshman
Jacob Rivera leading the pack for the Javelinas with a posted time of 34:14.2 to a 116th finish.
Sophomore
Roberto Alejandro ran a 34:44.6 finishing 130th. Freshman
Josh Perez wasn't far behind, finishing 135th in 34:52.9. Freshman
Joey Barrera (35:51.3, 150th), and sophomore
Roberto Trevino (36:45.3, 154th) rounded out the scorers for the Hogs.
The women's team placed 25th respectively in the race. In the final XC race of her stellar career, senior
Ivanova Yanes led the way once again for TAMUK. crossing 105th in 23:42.0. Meanwhile, junior
Ella Hester finished in 23:56.1 placing 110th.
Freshman
Kayla Trevino (34:38.1, 129th), sophomore
Yaritzy Acosta (24:47.6, 134th), and freshman
Zailey Zimmerman (26:36.3, 160th) would be the final crosses to finish off the season for the Javelinas.
