Kingsville - The Texas A&M University-Kingsville men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Pueblo, Colorado this weekend to compete at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship.
Both squads will field limited rosters, with five women and six men making the trip. The women's 6K is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 10K at 12:15 p.m.
Senior
Ivanova Yanes will lead the Javelina women after her stellar performance at the Lone Star Conference Championship, where she posted a time of 22:22.47 to finish 14th. The performance earned Yanes her second consecutive LSC All-Conference honor as she continues to build momentum heading into regionals.
Joining Yanes will be freshman Kayla Garcia-Trevino, sophomores Yartizy Acosta and
Samantha Presas, and junior
Ella Hester. The supporting quartet finished between 66th and 95th at the LSC Championship and will look to elevate their performances at the regional meet.
While veteran experience leads the way for the women, youthful energy takes charge for the men. Sophomore
Roberto Alejandro will pace the Javelinas after finishing 21st at the LSC Championship with a time of 25:51.25, providing steady leadership for a squad featuring four freshmen.

Jacob Rivera,
Josh Perez and
Joey Barrera, along with sophomore Robert Trevino and junior
Abner Villanueva. The Javelinas will look to build on their 10th-place finish at the conference championship as they compete against the region's best in Pueblo.
The NCAA South Central Regional Championship serves as the final opportunity for both teams to showcase their progress this season and potentially qualify for the national championship meet. With a mix of experienced leaders and hungry young talent, the Javelinas head to Colorado looking to leave their mark on the regional stage.
