Gunnison, Colorado - Texas A&M-Kingsville makes its second stop on its first road trip of the season to Gunnison, Colorado, to take part in the Mountaineer Volleyball Classic Friday and Saturday.
This is the second non-conference tournament the Javelinas (3-2, 0-0 Lone Star Conference) are taking part in this season, with the first being last week's Javelina Volleyball Classic.
The road trip has not been kind to the Javelinas thus far, as the first stop on the trip was 1-3 loss in a midweek matchup against Adams State. Now the Javelinas aim to get back on track Friday and Saturday.
Friday's match ups will pit the Javelinas against the Academy of Art and Fort Lewis University. It will be the first time Texas A&M-Kingsville will cross paths with the Academy of Art and only the second time the Javelinas and Skyhawks competed. Last matchup was a 3-0 sweep for the Javelinas.
Moving over to Saturday's match ups, the Javelinas will take on Washburn University and the host school Western Colorado. Texas A&M-Kingsville last played the Ichabod's of Washburn in 2009, which resulted in a 0-3 loss. The Javelinas however hold a 2-0 record over the Mountaineers of Western Colorado, with the last matchup finishing in a 3-2 victory for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Javelinas open up the Mountaineer Volleyball Classic at 10 a.m. CT against the Academy of Art. The games can be followed
