Kingsville, Texas – The Javelinas are on the road this weekend for the LSC challenge
Heading into the final weekend before conference play officially begins this season, the Javelinas are going to get a chance to see familiar foes in Midwestern St. and Oklahoma Christian. Coming out of the Javelina Volleyball Classic with an overall 6-3 record on the year and sitting at fifth in LSC to begin the year and they look poised to make a push.
Texas A&M – Kingsville currently holds a few top spots in the Lone Star Conference as they rank 1
st in total kills with 461, 1
st in total assists with 429, 1
st in digs at 690 and 4
th in total blocks at 63. They are holding their own and stack up nicely to anyone in the conference. On the flip side they also ranked near the bottom for opponent hitting percentage coming in a 5
th only allowing a .151, while also allowing only 1.34 aces/s which is good for 4
th.
The Javelinas are excelling as individuals too with a few cracking the top 5 in conference.
Tayae-Renae Garcia is the current digs leader with 188,
Alayna Guerrero comes in at 2
nd for assists with 326 and freshman
Cambelle Brammer sits at 4
th for points this season with 121.5, who also comes in at 4
th for kills (109).
A look at the opponents includes Midwestern St. former home of setter,
Alayna Guerrero, who started off 2-1, but since then have lost four straight and sit at 2-5. They will play Bethel College on Sep. 8
th at 6:00 and Oklahoma Christian on Sep. 10
th at 6:00 before facing off against the Javelinas. Meanwhile, Oklahoma Christian comes in at 4-4 on the year which includes losses to three top 20 teams, their only match is against Oklahoma Christian on Sep. 10
th before squaring of against the Hogs.
The Javelinas will be playing Midwestern St. on Sep. 11
th at 6:00pm before facing off against the Eagles on Sep. 12
