CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Ahead of their first matches of the spring season, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team took on neighboring Division I opponent Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a tune-up exhibition match.
The three-time defending Southland Conference champions promised to be one of the most difficult opponents the Hogs will face on the season, taking the win over the Javelinas, 0-7.
The Islanders swept singles competition, 6-0. In doubles play, the Hogs gave TAMUCC a challenge as they dropped two of their matchups, but the team of
Alessa Maier and
Milou ter Morsche got the win in their doubles match, 7-5.
Next up for the Javelinas, the spring season gets officially started as the team travels to Milledgeville, GA to take on Emmanuel and Georgia College. The Hogs take on Emmanuel first on Friday, Feb. 9 then Georgia College on Saturday, Feb. 10. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m.
