Kingsville -
Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the home stretch of its season as it takes on West Texas A&M at home Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

The Javelinas (5-3, 4-2 Lone Star Conference) are coming off a gritty victory over Western Oregon in which they took down the previously unbeaten Wolves, 21-14. Now they take on a very familiar foe in the form of the Buffaloes (3-5, 3-3 LSC) who sit just behind the Javelinas in the conference.

West Texas A&M is coming off of a home loss to UT-Permian Basin in which the Buffaloes scored under 10 points for just the second time this season. Offensively, West Texas sits just above Texas A&M-Kingsville in points per game, scoring 22.8 points compared to the Javelinas' 22.1 points per game.

Defensively, the Buffaloes are led by senior linebacker JT Cavender who is posting a monster season for West Texas. Cavender currently sits with 78 tackles, seven TFL's and two sacks on the year. He has also forced a fumble this season.

Kickoff for Saturday's matchup is set for 7:00 p.m. CT at Javelina Stadium with the game being streamed on Flosports. Fans of the Javelinas can follow the game on either live stats or at JavelinaFB on Twitter.

Quick Hitters:

- Despite giving up over 100 yards in each of the last two games, the Javelinas still maintain their position as the top rushing defense in the conference at 88.1 yards per game.

- Demarcus Hendricks is making a case that he is the best defensive player in the conference. The Junior from San Antonio currently leads the conference in sacks (seven), TFL's (12) and is tied for the lead in forced fumbles (two)

- Last week was a career best performance from defensive lineman Matthew Quick, who posted five tackles and forced a goal-line fumble to help the Javelinas secure the win against Western Oregon.

- The Javelinas passing offense has been led by receiver Jackson Allen, who has caught at least two passes in every game this season. In last week's outing against Western Oregon, Allen caught three passes for a season-high 60 yards and a touchdown.

- Running back Lawrence Starks has been effective since coming into the lineup for the Javelinas. Starks posted 69 total yards and his first touchdown of the season last week against Western Oregon.
