DJ Delancy named Fred Jacoby Male Academic Athlete of the Year for second straight year

DJ Delancy named Fred Jacoby Male Academic Athlete of the Year for second straight year Delancy earns his second top academic honor in the LSC with a 4.0 GPA in his master’s program

RICHARDSON, Texas – Javelina track & field standout D.J. Delancy has been named the Fred Jacoby Male Academic Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row as announced by the Lone Star Conference in a release on Wednesday. 

Delancy earns the recognition of being the conference's top male academic athlete in consecutive years as voted on by the league's sports information directors after posting a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in biology at Texas A&M-Kingsville. 

The shot put stand-out adds the recent award to an extensive list of accolades throughout his career with the Blue and Gold most recently earning first-team Academic All-American status and second-team All-American recognition after placing 12th at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past Spring. 

Additionally, Delancy was named the LSC Indoor Track & Field Academic Athlete of the Year back in March. 

Miriam Zanovello of West Texas A&M track & field. was recognized as the female recipient of the award with a phenomenal year studying chemistry.
