RICHARDSON, Texas – Javelina track & field standout D.J. Delancy has been named the Fred Jacoby Male Academic Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row as announced by the Lone Star Conference in a release on Wednesday.
Delancy earns the recognition of being the conference's top male academic athlete in consecutive years as voted on by the league's sports information directors after posting a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master's degree in biology at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The shot put stand-out adds the recent award to an extensive list of accolades throughout his career with the Blue and Gold most recently earning first-team Academic All-American status and second-team All-American recognition after placing 12th at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past Spring.
Additionally, Delancy was named the LSC Indoor Track & Field Academic Athlete of the Year back in March.
Miriam Zanovello of West Texas A&M track & field. was recognized as the female recipient of the award with a phenomenal year studying chemistry.
