FORT SMITH, Ark. - Texas A&M-Kingsville's women's tennis team picked up its second Lone Star Conference win of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating Arkansas - Fort Smith, 6-1.
The Javelinas (5-4, 2-2 LSC) started the day, sweeping the doubles as Alessa Maier and Milou Ter Morsche took the No. 1 match with a 6-2 win. At No. 2 Raina Zaffar and Manuela Turolo got a tight, 7-5 win to secure the doubles' point.
In the singles, the Javs continued their dominance over the Lady Lions. At No. 1 Alessa Maier fought back from a first set loss to take the next two sets, 7-5 and 10-8.
Raina Zaffar won at No. 2 taking her match 7-6, 6-0. Milou Ter Morsche cruised to a win at No. 4, winning her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 5, Annika Andersson Gomez took another LSC win, gutting out a close second set to win, 6-3, 7-6.
The Javs now prepare a trio of matches in the Sunshine State, beginning with Slippery Rock on Mar. 14 in Orlando.
