KINGSVILLE, Texas — On Tuesday, coach
Stefanie Maynard revealed the 2022 fall schedule, with the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team heading to three tournaments across the three states in preparation for the spring.
"This tournament schedule will push us to be competitive from the start," said coach Maynard. "We will see a lot of conference opponents, which will tell us where we stand. At Golfweek, we will see national opponents, which will push us to play at a higher level."
The team kicks off the campaign on Sep. 19-20, as they head to San Angelo, Texas, for the Concho River Classic. The contest last occurred at the Bentwood Country Club in the 2018 season, when the Javelinas claimed a sixth-place finish shooting 78-over par.
From there, the team will travel to Destin, Florida, for the Golfweek Division II Invitational, a tournament that spans from Oct. 2-4 at The Raven Golf Course. The event will feature a wealth of talent, including some of the best teams in DII. TAMUK last received an invitation in 2019, when they posted a 10th-place finish as then-freshman
Fahtima Avila took 59th individually at plus-25.
Lastly, the Javelinas will wrap up the fall campaign in Lawton, Oklahoma, as they compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Invitational for the fourth consecutive season. The 2021 edition saw a trio of Blue and Gold athletes in the top 30, including
Roxane Nataf, who placed 14th, while Avila and upcoming senior
Carolina Cantu (Sharyland, Texas) tied for 29th.
