Dall Unveils 2021-22 Track and Field Schedule

The team will compete in 17 meets across the indoor and outdoor seasons

 
KINGSVILLE, Texas- Head coach Ryan Dall announced the 2021-22 track and field schedule on Thursday, with the Javelinas heading to seven indoor and 10 outdoor meets. 
 
The squad begins the indoor season Friday, Dec. 3-4 in Pittsburg, Kan., as the Javelinas compete at the Boo Rodgers Invitational in the Robert. W Plaster Center. Last year's iteration saw redshirt senior Johnathon Harper (Lorena, Texas) punch his ticket to the indoor national championship after posting an automatic qualifying score of 5,495 in the heptathlon. 
 
Additionally, this will provide the team with their first look at the site of the national meet, which returns to the Robert W. Plaster Center after a pair of years in Birmingham, Ala. 
 
From there, Harper and the Hogs will take a brief intermission before competing at the Ted Nelson Invitational on the campus of Texas A&M. The event slated for Jan. 14th, is one the Blue and Gold sees success in perennially having competed at Gilliam Indoor Stadium in five of the last six seasons. 
 
The Javelinas head to Houston for a two-day event spanning Jan. 21-22, with the FasTrak Collegiate Challenge on the docket marking the first of two meets the Hogs will attend at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
 
The Hogs then take their talents to Topeka, Kan., for the Washburn Open on Jan. 28-29 at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility, a venue in which the TAMUK throwers dominated in the 2020-21 season as junior Marco Arevalo (Falfurrias, Texas) took silver in the shot put after reaching 16.43m (53-11) on his final throw of the day. Additionally, in the women's iteration of the event, sophomore Mackenzie Contreras (Edcouch, Texas) placed six in her first collegiate competition at 12.42m (40-9).
 
Dall's squad then returns to the Lone Star State for their final indoor regular season meet on Feb. 19, at the FasTrak Collegiate Open Qualifier, before competing at the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-27, in Lubbock, Texas, at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center.
 
The NCAA Indoor National Championships are slated for Mar. 11-12 with several Javelinas eyeing All-American status in The Sunflower State.  
 
The Outdoor season opens in San Antonio, with the Hogs competing at the Trinity Invitational on Mar. 5, and remains in Texas for the next three competitions as they take on the Wes Kittley Invitational in Abilene, the Texas Relays in Austin, and the David Noble Relays in San Angelo.
 
The team will take a quick detour as Dall returns to Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla., for the Hurricane Alumni invitational. While competing for Miami, Dall won a pair of Big East titles in the pole vault and finished fourth at the 1999 conference meet in the decathlon.
 
A return trip to Kingsville sees the Javelinas host the 14th Annual Cactus Cup at Pepsi Field in Javelina Stadium on Apr. 15-16 before making their way to Houston for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invitational at the Wendel D. Ley Track & Holloway Field.
 
On Apr. 30, the Javelinas compete in the last outdoor regular season meet at E.B. Crushing Stadium for Texas A&M Alumni Muster before taking over hosting duties for the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships on May 5-7.
 
The NCAA Outdoor National Championships are slated to take place from May 26-28 in Allendale, Mich., on the campus of Grand Valley State.
