TEMPE, Ariz. – Following a victory over then-No. 15 Tarleton, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis program took a long stride up the latest ITA Division II Rankings and clocked in at the No. 23 spot ahead of its matchup against Lone Star Conference foe No. 21 Angelo State.

In addition to being the second-highest ranked squad in the LSC, redshirt senior
Lisa Carvajal (McAllen, Texas) and freshman
Maya Donkor (McLean, Va.) held on to the No. 31 spot in the doubles rankings with their 6-3 win over Alicia Barbaroux and Neetika Sud in the top flight.

The Javelinas took the hard-fought 4-3 win over the TexAnns following a brilliant comeback from junior
Victoria Romanovskaia (Simferopol, Crimea, Russia) in the fourth singles matchup against Faustine Palatte. Palatte took the first set at 7-6 before Romanovskaia scorched the second set at 6-1.
The TexAnn took the first three points of the third set before Romanovskaia took the next two. After Palatte grabbed two of the next three points, the Javelina blazed through the next four to clinch the game, set and match at 7-5.
Romanovskaia was also instrumental in securing the doubles point as she paired up with senior
Phonephathep Philavong (Vientiane, Laos) and took a 6-3 win over Shelby Fillingame and Nathalie Ulander in the third pairing.
TAMUK's matchup against the Rambelles is set for Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. CT at the Javelina Tennis Courts for an LSC matchup. The Blue and Gold with also host UT Permian Basin on Sunday, April 7, with first serve set for 11 a.m. CT.
