KINGSVILLE, Texas –  High-powered offenses will take the Hampton Inn Court this weekend as the top three Lone Star Conference volleyball teams square off. Texas A&M University-Kingsville (10-5, 3-1 LSC) will challenge No. 16 Angelo State University (10-4, 2-3 LSC) on Friday, September 29 at 6 p.m. and then face No. 15 Tarleton State (10-4, 4-1 LSC) on Saturday, September 30 at 2 p.m. in the confines of the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.Â
At Friday's match against Angelo State, we will celebrate students here at Texas A&M-Kingsville by handing out 250 TAMUK Volleyball drawstring bags. Student IDs will be required to receive a bag. On Saturday, we will celebrate the uniform and encourage veterans of our armed forces to attend the match in their uniforms. The first 100 men and women in uniform will receive a free shirt.

The Javelinas enter the weekend holding the top slot in the conference with 91 service aces (23rd in Division II), 963 total digs (24th in Division II), and 107 total blocks (45th in Division II). In 2017, TAMUK has outhit its opponents .209-.154 and averages 1.91 blocks per set. While holding the second-best conference record, Kingsville is on a three-match winning streak after a pair of four-set victories last weekend against Texas Woman's and A&M-Commerce. Â

Krystal Faison and
Lexi Wick are locked at the top of the team's stat sheet with 143 kills (2.55 kills per set) while
Madison Brabham tails them with 109 kills (2.14 kills per set). Faison's 25 service aces lead the league and her 3.50 digs per set sit tenth. Wick and
Haley Hutchinson rank second and third with attack percentages of .360 and .328, respectively. Hutchinson leads the team defensively with 53 total blocks.
Casey Klobedans averages 9.68 assists per set – the fourth best in the league – while freshman
Jasmine Jacinto averages a team-best 4.50 digs per set.Â

After starting conference play 1-3, Angelo State responds with two sweeps over UT Permian Basin and West Texas A&M in its home arena. The Rambelles hit the road where they are 1-2, but still leads the LSC in attack percentage (.253), kills per set (14.40), blocks per set (2.21), and opponent hitting percentage (.145). Brianna Sotello paces the team with four kills per set, followed by Sundara Chinn and Anna Graham who averages 2.93 and 2.28 kills per set, respectively. Graham and Morgan Seaton sit fourth and fifth of all-league players, averaging 1.05 and 1.02 blocks per set, while Micheala Sifuentes sets the standard with 5.38 digs per set and 258 total digs.Â

ASU controls the all-time series 41-12 and defeated TAMUK in all three meetings last season, including a loss in the 2016 NCAA South Central Regional Tournament. Â

Tarleton State ties Texas A&M-Kingsville three-match winning streak after knocking off Angelo State on the road and then taking care of its home court with sweeps against West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin. In conference matches this season, the Texanns head the league with a .235 hitting percentage and holds their opponents to a .142 clip. LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Hailey Roberts rank third in the NCAA with 232 kills, fifth with 5.22 points per set, and seventh in averaging 4.64 kills per set. Adriana Darthuy is the only other Texann over 100 kills (140), and Hannah McManus leads the team defensively with 51 total blocks. Jordyn Keamo directs the offense with 8.90 assists per set and has a team-high 19 aces, and one triple-double. Â

TSU leads the all-time series 28-19, however, TAMUK has a 12-9 record at home including the last meeting where they won in five sets, marking the Javelinas first win over the Texanns since 2012.
