LAWTON, Okla. (Men's Basketball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (7-2, 0-0 LSC) opens its Lone Star Conference schedule with a pair of road games against Cameron University (8-3, 1-1 LSC) and Midwestern State University (6-4, 0-3 LSC). The matchup against Cameron will take place December 17 at 4 p.m. in the newly renovated Aggie Gym, followed by a 7:30 p.m. tip-off in the D.L. Ligon Coliseum Monday versus the Mustangs.

Texas A&M-Kingsville looks to match its longest win streak of the season (four) and improve its road record to 3-0. Although averaging just 70 PPG, the Hogs rank second in the LSC in scoring defense, relinquishing only 63.3 PPG to their opponents. The team from South Texas strengthens as the game progresses, outscoring the opposition by 57 points in the second half after outscoring them by just eight points in the first.
Trey Sumpter leads the club with 15.2 PPG and 5.4 rebounds per game. His shot has been falling in the young season and the Birmingham, Ala. native ranks second in the LSC with a .490 clip from the floor and 41.1% from three-point range. Duan Wright and Caelan Neal follow with 10 PPG with Neal leading the team with 13 steals, while sitting one assist behind Derrick Byrd's team-high 24 dimes.
Cameron hosts the Javelinas with an 8-3 overall record and 1-1 LSC mark. After defeating A&M-Commerce 81-74 in overtime, the Aggies fell to Tarleton State 70-63 for their first conference loss. They went on to drop the next game before returning home and getting back into the win column with a three-point edge over Lubbock Christian.Â
Four Aggies score in double figures headed by Tyler Williams and Tyus Momoh's 12 PPG and assisted by Trey Hall and JV Long's 10 PPG. Delvonte Pierre chips in 8.6 points and leads the team on the glass with 5.5 rebounds per game. As a team, CU averages 74.5 PPG and is right behind the Hogs in scoring defense, giving up 67.1 points per game.Â
The Javelinas are hoping to spoil the conference home opener for the Aggies and tie the all-time series record between the two clubs at 19-19.Â
The Javs will conclude their first conference road trip of the season on Monday night against Midwestern State. The Mustangs started the season 6-1, but with arguably the toughest start to a conference schedule, losses to Tarleton State, A&M-Commerce and Angelo State brought their overall record to 6-4. MSU will play its final non-conference game tonight against St. Gregory's before hosting the Blue and Gold.Â
Sheldon Hagigal averages 12.6 points when he has taken the floor this season, followed by Igor Ibaka, Brandon Neel and Logan Hicks who each average 10 PPG. The Mustangs have a strong supporting cast of players in Pat Smith who averages a solid 9.9 PPG, 31 assists and leads the team with 17 steals, Devante Pullum who has 9.3 PPG, a team-best of 39 helpers and adds 12 picked pockets and Magnus Richards, who serves as the defensive anchor with ten blocks and adds 8.9 PPG.
Midwestern State holds a 34-11 advantage over A&M-Kingsville in the head-to-head all-time series.Â
