CANYON, Texas (Football) – The trip does not get shorter but the Javelinas sure are used to it. Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-3, 0-3 LSC) heads to Kimbrough Memorial Stadium for a battle at West Texas A&M University (3-2, 2-1 LSC) Oct. 8 at 5 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Javelinas lead the all-time series 16-14-1 but the Buffaloes have won the last six meetings dating back to last season, including a 51-45 victory in the 2015 season finale.

TAKE DOWN THE BEST
The Javelinas have the opportunity to pick up their first Lone Star Conference victory since Nov. 12, 2012 versus Eastern New Mexico University. Texas A&M-Kingsville began its conference slate versus the top three teams in the preseason poll. Two of those teams are currently in the top five nationally.
 
HEARTBREAKING DOWN TO THE WIRE
The three Javelina losses have been by a combined score of five. Turnovers withstanding, the Javelinas have dominated in nearly every category both offensively and defensively.
 
SCOUTING THE HOGS
Myles Carr sits in the top 10 nationally in passing efficiency (170.29) and completion percentage (66.18 percent). Carr has tossed 12 touchdowns to just one interception in five games this season. 
Nick Pelrean paces the rushing attack with three TDs on the ground. The sophomore is averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Despite playing through an injury, 
Greg Pitre is averaging 54.75 yards per game and has two rushing touchdowns as a senior. In last season's meeting at WT, Pitre rushed for 234 yards on 27 carries and added 52 receiving yards and two scores.
 
Anthony Autry leads the team with 22 receptions and four touchdowns. 
Jordan Thomas follows with three scores and 53.80 yards/game.
 
Defensively, 
ZeMarcus Green leads the club with 26 tackles and 
Brandon Jones follows with 23 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and a league-leading 5.0 sacks. 
Braedon Robinson has tallied 6.0 TFLs in his first season as a linebacker. 
Quentin Parks leads the team with six quarterback hurries.
 
ABOUT THE BUFFS
The Buffaloes began the LSC season with two victories before falling at Eastern New Mexico University, 39-30, last week. Among the returning core offensively is quarterback Ethan Brinkley, who has 11 total touchdowns. Brinkley is 145-215 with nine passing touchdowns but he has thrown five interceptions. Devon Paye is the team's leading rusher with 88.8 rushing yards/contest and three TDs. Brinkley scatters the ball across many receivers, led by Ja'Quarius Daniels' 51.2 yards/game. Daniels is second on the team with two receiving touchdowns (Eppy Henriques has three).
 
On special teams, P.J. Leonce has returned a punt for a touchdown. Defensively, Devontae Merriweather paces the team with 35 total tackles and a forced fumble. Daelin Young has three sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss. West Texas A&M's defense has six interceptions, led by Rashawn DuPree's two, and five blocked kicks – four by LaPear Willrich.
