nd installment of the Chennault Cup rivalry. The IBC Bank Hispanic Heritage Weekend is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start on Sept. 19 at Javelina Stadium. (

CHENNAULT CUP GAMESThe Javelinas are 13-5 all-time in Chennault Cup games, but the Lions have won the previous three matchups, including last season's affair at AT&T Stadium.
DEFENDING CHAMPSThe Lions are the defending LSC regular season champions and after beginning the conference schedule at AT&T Stadium versus A&M-Commerce last season, the Javelinas will look to earn their first home conference win since 2012 when the Hogs defeated Incarnate Word (Oct. 13).
SCOUTING THE JAVELINASTexas A&M-Kingsville has two running backs averaging over 5.0 yards per carry in
Shawn Vasquez and
Greg Pitre. Vasquez has 25 rushes for 147 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in last week's victory over Missouri S&T. Pitre has nine carries for 48 yards and senior
Joe Te'o has a touchdown in 2015.
In two starts,
Myles Carr is 27-of-45 with three touchdowns and
Stevie Joe Dorman has a touchdown pass of his own. Both of
Anthony Autry's touchdowns came last week and
Jordan Thomas and Vasquez have one as well.
Defensively, the Javelinas have 15.0 tackles for a loss, six sacks and two interceptions, both by redshirt freshman
Devonte Williams.
ZeMarcus Green leads the way with 14 tackles, including a 12-yard sack.
SCOUTING THE LIONSSaturday's slate will be the first road contest for A&M-Commerce. Richard Cooper has back-to-back 100-plus yard rushing games after a 135 yard performance in a near upset over No. 10 Delta State. Buck Wilson has been the best kick return man in the LSC, accounting for 181 yards of kick return yards for the fourth best in a single-game in the NCAA in 2015. The Lions are the nation's 13th best passing offense and second best in the LSC averaging 338 yards per game. They are also second best in the LSC in total offense and 10th in the NCAA averaging 548 yards per game. -Defensively, Dionte Taylor paced a Lions secondary that broke up 10 passes the game against Delta State. Taylor led all Lions with five break ups -- the first time in the 2000s a Lions has reached that mark.
