GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team will meet Colorado Mesa University on Sunday at 1 p.m. (Central Time)/ Noon (Mountain Time) for Game 10 in the NCAA South Central Regional Baseball Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo.
The Javelinas enter the game with an overall 37-19 mark after defeating Tarleton, 8-6, and West Texas A&M, 7-5, on Saturday. The Mavericks are 43-10 after defeating Tarleton in Game 7 on Saturday.
The meeting is the second between the two teams in regional play. The Javelinas eliminated Colorado Mesa in last year's regional tournament with a score of 0-3.
Kingsville enters the contest with a .295 average at the plate and a 3.45 ERA.
Derrick Walls leads the team with a .380 average, 53 runs, 89 total bases and 28 stolen bases.
Brian Frazier is hitting .367 with a .555 slugging percentage.
Taylor Taska has a team-best 46 RBI.
The Javelinas will have an uphill battle being that the Mavericks are 30-0 at home. Kingsville's defense must contend with Austin Kaiser who has a .510 average on the year to lead Colorado Mesa which is hitting .361 on the season. Kaiser also leads the Mavericks with 67 runs, 23 doubles, 56 RBI and 11 home runs.
If the Javelinas win Game 10, the team will force a Game 11 on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (MT) / 4:30 p.m. (CT).
