KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team will meet Tarleton State on the diamond on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (Central Time)/ 3:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) for Game 8 in the NCAA South Central Regional Baseball Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo.
The Javelinas enter the game with an overall 35-19 mark after dropping Game 6 to West Texas A&M, 17-3 on Friday. The Texans are 30-23 after defeating New Mexico Highland in Game 4 on Friday.
The meeting is the seventh of the season between the two teams. The season series record stands at 4-3, in favor of the Javelinas.
Kingsville enters the contest with a .294 average at the plate and a 3.44 ERA.
Derrick Walls leads the team with a .373 average, 50 runs,85 total bases and 26 stolen bases.
Brian Frazier is hitting .357 with a .563 slugging percentage.
Taylor Taska has a team-best 41 RBI.
Jared Musgrove has a .387 average on the year to lead Tarleton which is hitting .301 on the season. RustinThomas leads the Texas with 46 runs, 15 doubles, and eight home runs. The Javelina defense will have to deal with Alvaro Moreno who has 41 runs knocked in for the season.
