SAN ANTONIO, Texas –The Texas A&M-Kingsville tennis team (2-10) lost a 5-4 decision to McMurry on Saturday in Abilene.

Against the Warhawks, the Javelina women won two of six singles matches. Mariaxi Herrera won at No. 1 by sweeping Lauren Renner in two sets with the scores of 6-3 and 6-1. At No. 2, Marija Dimitrovska defeated Shayne Cook with scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

McMurry won the final four singles matches. At No. 3, Chloe Patterson defeated Tabata Lua Cervantes with scores of 1-6, 6-4, and 10-5. Madison Hathorn defeated Eleni Anastasova in two sets with score of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.  Bree Brosig defeated Ashlea Rosenbaum 6-3 and 6-2 at No. 5. At No. 6, Allie Hawkins defeated Alexandra Carrillo 6-0, 6-0.

 In doubles, at No. 1, Herrera and her partner, Dimitrovska bested Renner and Cook lo with a score of 8-5. With this win in doubles, Herrera and Dimitrovska improve 7-5 on the season. At No. 2, Lua and Rosebaum defeated Jessica Bentley and her partner, Brosig, 8-2.  On No. 3, Hathorn and Patterson defeated Anastasova and her partner, Carrillo, 8-0.

Javelina tennis will travel to Georgetown on April 12th to face Southwestern.
