Box Score ALLEN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team took a 27-25 lead into the locker room on Wednesday afternoon, but couldn't find the mark in the second half while Midwestern State heated up to pull away for a 77-61 win in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Championship at the Allen Event Center.
The loss ends the season for the Javelinas at 8-19. The Mustangs move to 20-6 with their tenth win in a row
In the first half, the Javelinas and Mustangs were in a see-saw tussle with five ties and eight lead changes in the first half. The largest lead was 14-8 with 12 minutes to go in the half after a 7-0 run.
Kingsville answered with a 12-5 run knotting the action at 19.
Jordan Jahr drained a 3-point basket to cut the Javelinas' deficit in half at 14-11 with 4:34 remaining in the half. After a jumper by Jahr pulled Kingsville to within a basket with a floater,
Ta'Quan McDew tied it with a pair of free throws.

Ronald Scott with less than five minutes remaining pushed the Javelinas in front 25-22 and they led 27-25 at the break.
The Hoggies held MSU to 28 percent in the first half and out-rebounded the Mustangs 21-19.
In the second half, Kingsville struggled offensively connecting on four free throws in the first nine minutes of the second half and did not convert a field goal until
Mike Evans scored at the 10:35 mark. The basket pulled the Javelinas to within 11, 44-33, but they were unable to get closer.
Midwestern, meanwhile, warmed up from the floor hitting 71.4% for the second half to pull away and finished the game at over 50%.
Scott finished the game with 19 points for the Javelinas, who played without
Rashad Basey because of injury.
Ta'Quan McDew added 13 points. Midwestern State's DeVaughn Jones had 15 points and Monzaigo Williams finished with 14.
