Kingsville Softball Hosts Cameron In Four-Game Set


KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team hosts Lone Star Conference foe Cameron this weekend in a 4-game set at Hubert Field. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at 5 p.m. and a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Kingsville enters the weekend 8-25 after splitting a mid-week doubleheader with Texas A&M International. The Javelinas are currently seventh in the LSC with a 2-11 record. Cameron is 5-7 in the LSC and 19-11. The Aggies are sixth in the conference.
Bailey Offill leads Kingsville with a .307 batting average and is tied for the team lead with a 20 runs scored with fellow senior Adela Gomez. Valerie Ramirez and Gomez lead the team with three home runs, while Taylor McGill has two. Carlie Clark recorded the win in Tuesday's first game against International and has four on the season.
Tara Martini is first on the Aggies with a .416 batting average which is fifth in the league. She is second in the conference with 41 runs batted in and third with 10 doubles. Misty Dooley is second on the team with a .370 average and tops with 34 runs scored. Kelsey Watson leads the pitching staff with nine wins and is amongst the top five in the LSC with 77 strikeouts.
