Hoggies Make Clean Sweep Of Weekly Outdoor Track Awards

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Following their impressive showing at home in the IBC Bank Cactus Cup, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's track and field teams made a clean sweep of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Awards.

Jeron Robinson and Tim Price were recognized in men's track and field. On the women's side, Kaina Martinez and Shykilia Sheppard earned the weekly honors.

Robinson, who earlier this week was named the USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week, cleared 7'6" (2.29m) in the high jump at the Cactus Cup at Javelina Stadium on Saturday. His automatic qualifying mark was the best by a Division II high jumper since 2007 when Minnesota State's Jim Dilling jumped 7-6.5 (2.30m) at the prestigious Drake Relays. The mark was a meet, stadium, school, and Lone Star Conference record.

Price took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.45. He also won first place in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.15, breaking his own record time of 21.28 from the 2012 IBC Bank Cactus Cup.

Martinez soared into first place with an automatic qualifying time of 11.52 in the women's 100-meter dash. She also placed first in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.30. In the women's 4x100-meter relay, Kingsville (Sheppard, Kathy Treviño, Santia Deck, Martinez) came in first place with a time of 46.62.

In the women's long jump, Sheppard came in first with a provisional qualifying mark of 18-10 (5.74m).  She was also part of the first place 4x100 relay.
