Softball Gets Victory Over Tarleton

Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas—The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina softball team won, 4-1, against the Tarleton State TexAnns Friday at Mustangs Park at the Lone Star Conference Showcase.

The second inning proved to be the best for the Javelinas (7-19, 2-6) with three runs being scored. Myrissa Sanchez and Erica Graham scored on an error by Tarleton pitcher, Brenna Hennan making the score 2-0. Bailey Offill would drive in Cortnee White for a score of 3-0.

Kingsville would remain in control of the game and score once more in the fifth inning when Adela Gomez homered into left field. It was Gomez's second home run of the season.

The TexAnns (11-18, 3-6) eventually got on the board in the seventh inning when Rachel Brownlow drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Carlie Clark (3-8) takes the win for the Javelinas by putting in seven innings of work. She had three strikeouts and one run with one earned on two hits.

Randi Fentress (6-8) suffered the loss for Tarleton after four innings, she had one run on with one earned on two hits.

Originally meant to be a 6-game event for the Javelinas, the Showcase was shortened to two games apiece because of field conditions. Kingsville takes on Texas Woman's Saturday at 10 a.m. in Wichita Falls.
