Box Score KINGSVILLE, Texas -- The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team received solid pitching throughout both games of Saturday's doubleheader in its home opener at Hubert Field Saturday afternoon as the Javelinas downed Huston-Tillotson 4-1 and 5-0.

In the opening game, Kingsville (4-3) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Bailey Offill led off the inning with a double and stole third. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Erica Graham.

After the Rams tied the game in the fourth on their lone run of the day, the Javelinas would plate three runs in the bottom of the sixth with a 2-out rally. With one gone, Valerie Ramirez doubled for the third time in the game. She scored on a 2-out double by Taylor McGill. McGIll crossed the plate on a single by Lindsey May, who scored the game's final run on a double by Offill.

Kingsville used two pitchers in the opener. Carlie Clark struck out five batters in four innings of work. She did not allow a hit until the fourth inning when the Rams scored their lone run. Clark walked run and hit a batter in the fourth. Ariel Kellogg allowed one hit in two innings of relief as she moved to 3-1 on the season.

In the second game, the Javelinas scored five runs in the first two innings and then watched another dominant pitching performance.

In the bottom of the first, Cortnee White singled and stole second to start the inning. With two gone, she scored as Adela Gomez reached on an error by the Rams.

White would also figure big in the second inning. With one out, Carynn Gonzales walked and stole second. After a single by Offill, the bases became loaded as Graham reached on an error. White then cleared the bases with a triple and scored the fifth run on a hit by Jaeleen Castro.

With the run support, starter Kat Tapley was dominant in earning her first win of the season. Tapley pitched five innings of no-hit softball striking out seven to earn first win as a Javelina. She walked four batters and hit one. Kellogg pitched the final two innings allowing a 1-out single in the sixth.

The Javelinas next play Tuesday at former Lone Star Conference rival Incarnate Word. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.
