Softball Pushes Back First Pitch Of Home Opener For Saturday

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Fans looking to attend the 2014 home debut of Texas A&M-Kingsville softball will have to wait a little longer on Saturday as the twinbill has been pushed back two hours to a 3 p.m. start because of field conditions at Hubert Field.

The Javelinas opened their season last weekend at the St. Mary's Classic going 2-3 against a tough field of opponents.

Kingsville was led at the plate by a trio of players. Bailey Offill had a .438 average at the player with four runs scored and four runs batted in. Jaeleen Castro and Adela Gomez each hit .333 in the tournament. Castro scored four runs and drove in four runs, while Gomez had a grand slam home run with six RBI and five runs scored. Taylor McGill also had a home run on the weekend.

In the circle, Kingsville used three different pitchers on the weekend. Ariel Kellogg led the trio earning all-tournament honors. She posted a 2-1 mark on the weekend in 19-2/3 innings of work fanning five. Carlie Clark and Kat Tapley each made two starts apiece.
