KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Kingsville Hampton Inn Court on Saturday when it takes on West Texas A&M at 3 p.m.
The Javelinas, who have not played at home since beating Cameron on Jan. 22, are 7-12 overall and 2-6 in the Lone Star Conference. West Texas is 9-11 overall and 1-7 in the LSC.
The Hoggies are coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to Eastern New Mexico in which they led by as many as 11 points in the first half but went cold in the second half falling 68-62.
Jordan Jahr led Kingsville with 20 points while,
Ronald Scott had 14.
On the season,
Rashad Basey leads the Javelinas with 17.1 points a game is third in the LSC in points. Basey is averaging 1.8 steals a contest which is third in the league. Jahr is second with 11.5 points a game, while Scott is third in scoring with 10.6 a game. Scott is sixth in the LSC with 4.1 assists, while Jahr is seventh in blocks with 1.0 per contest and eighth in rebounds per game with 5.8.
Ta'Quan McDew, who had 20 points last week at Angelo State to earn LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors, is averaging 9.9 a game.
Adonis Bailey is at 8.1 and
Irvin Hollinger at 7.7.
West Texas, which had its only conference win at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville, is led by Drimir Ferguson with 13.7 points a game and is tenth in the LSC in scoring. He is second in the conference with 5.5 assists per contest. Tez Dumars is second on the team with 11.9 points. Antjuan Ball leads the LSC in rebounding with 9.3 a game.
