Kingsville Men Look To Slow Surging Mustangs
KINGSVILLE, Texas – When the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team hosts Midwestern State on Saturday at 3 p.m. on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court, the Javelinas will be looking to slow the Mustangs who enter with 7-game winning streak.

The Javelinas, who have lost their last two games with top scorer Rashad Basey sidelined with injury, are 8-16 on the season with a 3-7 mark. Midwestern State is 18-6 and second in the Lone Star Conference at 10-2. The Mustangs have won three times in overtime during their current winning streak.

With a win, the Javelinas can take a step closer to securing at least a seventh seed in the LSC Championship in March. With a win, MSU would stay within a game or possibly pull even with Tarleton State for the top spot.

Kingsville will look to increase its offensive production have recorded 58 points in each of its last two games without Basey in the lineup which are two of their lowest scoring games on the season.

Ronald Scott is the second-leading scorer for the Javelinas with 11.1 points a game, while Jordan Jahr is next at 10.5 p.p.g. and first in rebounding with 5.3. Scott is seven assists shy of 100 for the season.

The Mustangs, who began their current streak with an 83-62 win over Kingsville in Wichita Fallas, are led by Monzaigo Williams. Williams is tied for second in the LSC with Basey at 16.9 points a game. At 7.6 rebounds a game Xavier Blackburn is four in rebounding.

MSU is one of the top defensive teams in the LSC. The Mustangs are second defensive field goal percentage limiting opponents to 41% from the floor and are second in points allowed at 68.
