OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team was edged on the road 5-4 Saturday afternoon by Southern Nazarene.

The Javelinas (0-3) won at No. 5 and No. 6 flights in singles, and at No. 2 and No. 3 in doubles. Two of the other singles matches went three sets. Alexandra Carrillo earned her first singles win with a 7-6 and 6-4 decision over Bekah Stewart at No. 5. Ashton Garcia won by default at No. 6 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Mariaxi Herrera and Natalia Moreno split the first two sets by identical 6-4 sets. In the decisive third set, Herrera fell 7-6 losing the tiebreaker 7-5. Tabata Lua Cervantes won the first set at No. 3 singles 6-1 over Marina Shipilova but lost the second set 7-5. Shipilova won the third set 6-2.

In doubles, Marija Dimitrovska and Herrera claimed an 8-4 win over Karina Kotova and Shipilova at No. 2 doubles. Carrillo and Garcia won by default at No. 3. doubles.

The Javelinas will battle Dallas Baptist and Texas Lutheran next Saturday in Seguin in a pair of dual matches
