Box Score SAN ANGELO – The trio of
Ta'Quan McDew,
Jordan Jahr, and
Irvin Hollinger combined to knock down 10 3-point baskets matching a season-high and the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team shot 52.4% from the floor defeating Angelo State 79-69 at the Junell Center on Saturday.<br />

With the win, the Javelinas improved to 7-12 on the season with a 2-5 Lone Star Conference record. The loss drops Angelo State to 14-5 overall and to 4-3 in the league.<br />

Kingsville never trailed as Jahr and
Irvin Hollinger opened the game with back-to-back threes as the Hoggies shot a steamy 10-of-13 from behind the arc in the game. Hollinger had a team-best four treys.<br />
<br />
Kenny Williams, who entered as the LSC's top scorer but was held to 12 points, scored on a tip-in to make it 6-5 moments later.<br />
<br />
The Javelinas would respond with a 17-6 run to build a 12-point lead, 23-11, with 7:42 to go in the first half.<br />
<br />
ASU could get no closer than seven the rest of the half as Kingsville took a 35-22 lead at the break. The Javelinas hit over 57% from the floor in the first half.<br />
<br />
Kingsville led by at least nine points in the second half until a late charge by the hosts.<br />
<br />
Trailing by 15, 61-46, after a jumper by Jahr, with 4:19 left, Angelo pulled to within eight, 61-53 with three minutes left with a 7-0 run.<br />

A trey by Jahr and two free throws by
Rashad Basey pushed Kingsville back in front by 14 points with 2:17 remaining.<br />
<br />
Bryan Hammond, who led the hosts with 20 points, pulled the Rams to within seven with 27 seconds left. However, Kingsville hit 3-of-4 free throws to ice the game.<br />
<br />
McDew led Kingsville with 20 points including an 11-of-15 effort at the foul line. Jahr added 16 points, while Basey and Hollinger each scored 15 points. Badey added four steals, while
Ronald Scott had five assists.<br />

Aside from Hammonds' 20 points, Williams netted 12. Omari Gudul came off the bench for 11 points. Kingsville limited the Rams to 39% shooting from the floor.<br />

The Javelinas remain on the road as they cap their 3-game road trip by heading to Portales, N.M., on Wednesday.<br />
