Javelinas Out To Gain First LSC Win

KINGSVILLE, Texas – After coming up just short in a late rally Wednesday against Eastern New Mexico, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team will look to earn its first Lone Star Conference win of the season on Saturday when it visits West Texas A&M at 4 p.m.

The Javelinas enter the game with a 5-10 mark and are 0-3 in the Lone Star Conference. Of the Javelinas three LSC losses, two have been by a combined six points. West Texas sits at 7-7 overall and is also looking for its first conference win of the season.

With 25 points in Wednesday's game, Rashad Basey regained the Lone Star Conference scoring lead with 18.7 points a game. It was Basey's seventh game of the season with 20-or-more points. Three other Javelinas are averaging double digits as well. Ronald Scott, who leads the team with 62 assists, is second 12ith 10.5 points, while Ta'Quan McDew is scoring 10.2 and Jordan Jahr 10 even.

Jahr leads the team with 6.1 rebounds and is ninth in the LSC with just under a block a game, while Scott is fifth in assists with 5.1 a contest. Basey is fifth with 1.7 steals. McDew is tenth in made 3-point field goals a game with 1.5.

Drimir Ferguson leads WT with 14.4 points a game. His teammate Antjuan Bell is tops in the Lone Star with 10.1 rebounds a game and is averaging a double-double with 11.4 points a game. Bell is second in shooting percentage hitting 67.3% and is followed by David Duncan who is third at 55.4%. Tez Dumars is second on the Buffs in scoring with 12.6.
