Javelinas Fall In Four To TSU

Box Score KINGSVLLE, Texas -- The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team dropped a match Friday night to Tarleton State 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-20) in a Lone Star Conference match on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court. 
The Javelinas fall to 7-7 on the season and 1-2 in LSC action. The TexAnns, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 mark and are 8-5 overall.
Kingsville, which entered as one of the top hitting teams on the season in the LSC, struggled with its hitting on Friday finishing with a .127 percentage. The Javelinas hit over .200 in just the second set winning the set 25-13. They had four ball-handling errors as well.
The TexAnns finished with a .225 hitting percentage.
Kelsey Washington led Kingsville with a 18 kills and added 17 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Dedra Brown added 17 kills. Kayla McGlathery finished with eight kills and had a .438 hitting mark with just one error in 16 swings.
Brittany Gutierrez led the Javelinas with 20 digs which was her second match with at least 20 digs. Sarah Fountain, who had 44 assists in Tuesday's 3-set win over Tarleton, had 43 kills on Friday.
Jazmine Green led Tarleton with 15 kills and Stacie Murrah also had 12. Emily Klein finished with 23 digs and Katie Covell dug up 12.
Kingsville closes out a 3-match homestand on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match versus nationally-ranked Angelo State.
