Box Score KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville football team heads to Florence, Ala for a meeting with North Alabama in the Gulf South Conference-Lone Star Conference First-and-10 Challenge. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Saturday night.
The Javelinas enter the contest with a 2-3 record having lost three straight games. North Alabama is 3-2 overall and is coming off a win over West Georgia.
The contest will be broadcast as part of the Gulf South Conference's Television package of the game of the week. The broadcast will carried in South Texas by KDF 47. The station can be found on cable and satellite systems in the region including Grande (Channel 13), Time Warner (Channel 13), Dish Network (Channel 47) and CMA (Channel 8) in Kingsville. As the GSC "Arby's Game of the Week".
The contest is part of ESPN's Game Plan package and will be available for those who cannot watch the KDF broadcast on ESPN3.com.
The Javelinas will be looking for their first win since manhandling McMurry in September. Kingsville is coming off a 41-28 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce. The Hoggie offense showed life late with 21 fourth quarter points after scoring just 24 in the prior 11 quarters. Freshman
Caleb Bedford will be making his third start at quarterback. He has two rushing touchdowns and a passing TD in the last two weeks.
The Kingsville defense, which is second in the Lone Star Conference in total defense, will have to a power running attack by the Lions. Last week, in a win over West Georgia, UNA ran the ball all but nine offensive plays and is averaging well over 200 yards on the ground and is in the top 30 nationally.
The Javelinas head to New Mexico next week when they visit the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in an afternoon tilt.
