The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team won its first five-game match of the season with a 3-2 victory at Southwestern Oklahoma.
The win improved the Javelinas overall record to 11-9 and evened their league mark at 4-4.
Southwestern Oklahoma fell to 9-16 and 1-5.
The match was a back and forth affair as the Javelinas won games two (30-28) and three (30-28) while the Bulldogs won games one (31-29) and four (30-25).
A&M-Kingsville had to come from behind all afternoon to earn the win.
In game two the Javelinas were down 20-9 and 28-24 before rallying to win. In game three the Javelinas trailed 28-26 before winning the last four points.
In the fifth and deciding game, the Javelinas faced match point trailing 14-13, but rallied to win the final three points, the last on a kill by Adina Gray (Flour Bluff).
The 11 wins are the most for the Javelinas since 2002 and the six road victories are the most for the program since winning eight road matches in 1998.
Freshman Sha Tramble (Houston Clear Brook) had a career-high 25 kills and 23 digs to lead the Javelinas.
Gray had 15 kills and Mollie Biega (Houston Cypress Creek) had 13 kills as the Javelinas posted a season-high 73 kills and 93 digs.
Senior Heidi Scheopner (Harlingen South) had a season-best 46 assists to go along with 11 digs.
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 3-2 on their five-game roadtrip and will return home Thursday to host Midwestern State in an LSC match at 7:00 p.m.
