Kingsville - Midwestern State ran for 456 yards and five touchdowns in handing the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas a 44-17 defeat at Javelina Stadium.
Midwestern State improved to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the Lone Star Conference while the Javelinas fell to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Three different Mustangs ran for over 100 yards. Quarterback Daniel Polk had 172 yards on 17 carries and one score, running back Adrion Butler had 133 yards on 18 carries and scored once and running back Ulysses Odoms had 105 yards on seven carries and three scores.
Midwestern State had 537 total yards to just 165 for the Javelinas.
Polk did not start the game at quarterback, but came off the bench to account for 201 yards of total offense.
After a scoreless first quarter, Midwestern State scored 37 of the next 40 points, leading 16-3 at the half and 37-3 at the end of the third quarter.
The Mustangs out-gained the Javelinas 226 to 16 in the third quarter, and out-scoring Texas A&M-Kingsville 21-0.
Javelina freshman quarterback Jeremy Heatley completed 17 of 36 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. Raymorris Miller led the Javelina rushing attack with 29 yards on 14 carries.
Texas A&M-Kingsville scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, one on a seven yard pass from Heatley to Frank Allen and another on a recovered fumble in the end zone off a punt return by Tauron Thomas.
