Robert Armstrong named to Javelina Hall of Fame

Kingsville — Former Javelina wide receiver Robert Armstrong was named to the Texas A&M-Kingsville Athletics Hall of Fame, the department announced Wednesday.

Armstrong will join seven other inductees in the Javelina Hall of Fame Class of 2026, with each inductee being announced on subsequent Wednesdays. The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place Oct. 2 inside the Student Union Building ballroom.

One of the greatest receivers in the modern era of Javelina football, Armstrong was a three-time first-team all-conference wide receiver from 2011 to 2013 and was named co-receiver of the year during the 2012 Lone Star Conference season. Armstrong also earned preseason All-American honors and Kanza Bowl Offensive MVP honors during his time at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The Cuero, Texas, native has his name written throughout the Javelina football record book among receivers. Armstrong currently holds the records for career receptions (229) and receiving touchdowns (33) for the Javelinas and ranks fourth in program history with 2,826 receiving yards. Armstrong previously held the record for receptions in a single season with 67 and is tied for the most receiving touchdowns in a single game with three (Nov. 10, 2012, vs. ENMU).

After spending all four years of his collegiate career with the Javelinas, Armstrong received invitations to NFL training camps with the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers. Armstrong is currently a sergeant with the Texas State Troopers
