Kingsville - Senior Madison Ramos and Graduate Student Jack Turner were named as Scholar Athlete Honorees by the Lone Star Conference, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Each academic year, the Conference presents a Scholar-Athlete Award to one male and one female student-athlete who is a member of the graduating class at each LSC institution. Award recipients are selected by their campus and represent outstanding accomplishments in scholarship, athletics, and leadership. Honorees must have participated for at least two years in their sport.
Ramos, a native of Port Isabel Texas, has had an outstanding career with the Javelina Track and Field team in her time at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Ramos is a two-time first-team All-American high jumper and holds the indoor school record in the event with a 1.76m jump. Ramos was the LSC champion in the event during the 2026 indoor season, and was also named to the 2026 All-Academic team for the indoor season as well. She will have one outdoor season eligibility remaining for the 2027 season.
Turner joined the Javelinas by way of Louisiana Tech for the 2025 football season and put together an incredible season with the Javelinas. Turner became the first Javelina quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards while also setting the single-season program record in total yards, completions and completion percentage. Turner was a member of the 2025 All-Academic team in the LSC as well.
