Kingsville - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team will add former Javelina Graduate Assistant Katie Lemanski to its staff as an Assistant Coach, the TAMUK Athletic Department announced on Wednesday.

After spending a four-year playing career with the Saint Anselm Hawks, and leading both the team and the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) in assists during her senior year, Lemanski joined Kingsville's coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant ahead of the 2025-26 season. Alongside Head Coach Michael Madrid, she helped coach the Javelinas' redshirt junior guard Kaycee Groves to an All-Lone Star Conference Second Team appearance. Now, she will help round out Madrid's Coaching staff ahead of a 2026-27 season.

"I am extremely excited for this next chapter as a Javelina," Lemanski said. "I believe in our process and am grateful for the opportunity to impact this program further. Go Javs!"

Lemanski's impressive career as a student-athlete includes being a seven-time selection to the NE10's Academic Honor Roll. As the team's starting point guard during her upperclassmen years, she led the team to an excellent 18-10 record, which included a trip to the NCAA D2 East Regional, where the Hawks won their first NCAA Tournament game since the 2018-19 season. 

"Katie is a natural leader, an exceptional communicator, and a fierce competitor," Madrid said. "While her title this past year was Graduate Assistant, it quickly became evident that she brought far more to our program than the responsibilities typically associated with that role. She is sharp, confident, and possesses a level of experience and professionalism well beyond her years."
