Kaycee Groves named to All-LSC Second Team

Kingsville - Returning from injury to have an incredible season, Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball's redshirt junior guard Kaycee Groves was selected to the Lone Star Conference's All-Conference Second Team.

The first All-Conference Team selection of Groves' career, she earned the honor with top-of-the-conference numbers that only improved once LSC play began. By the end of conference play (20 games), TAMUK's do-it-all guard had left her mark all over the LSC's statistical leaderboard. In those games, she averaged 12.5 points per game (13th in the LSC), 6.2 rebounds per game (15th in the LSC), 2.7 assists per game (15th per game), 1.9 3PM per game (seventh in the LSC), 2.2 steals per game (ninth in the LSC). 0.7 blocks (15th in the LSC).

"Kaycee led us in many categories this season and it's awesome to see the conference noticed," Head Coach Michael Madrid said. "Coming off of a season-ending injury the previous year, she worked hard to put herself in this position. I believe her best basketball is ahead of her."

The end of the year saw Groves bring out her best, scoring double figures in seven straight games at the end of the season, the longest such streak of her career. Included in that streak was three separate games in which she scored at least 21 points, highlighted by a 25-point explosion in a win over St. Edward's, the most points scored by a Javelina in a single game since 2023.

Across the season, Groves' second with the Javelinas, she set new single-game career highs in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks and recorded two double-doubles, the third and fourth of her career. In the first 20-point outing of her season, she flirted with a triple-double, collecting 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block against TAMIU.

Groves becomes the first Javelina selected to the All-LSC Second Team since 2020-21, and the second since 2013-14.
